80% Dry Air Compressor Function (DC and DCAD model series)
80% air dryer compressor models provide approximately 80% dry air, but it does not have a verified pressure dew point (PDP) rating. Generally, it offers around Class 4 dry air, which corresponds to a PDP between +3°C and +10°C. The actual output air temperature is approximately 70°F on average. This type of air dryer is suitable for applications where a specific pressure dew point is not critical. However, if your equipment requires a low PDP value (i.e. ISO 8573 Class 2/3 (2.3.1) Clean/Dry Air compliant; PDP -20′ F. to -51′ F.]) and 0.01 micron filtering, it is suggested to consider a 98% dry air compressor model for optimum dry air performance and equipment protection.
RED: Motor-pump(s) generate hot moist air 117F and route air into the Aftercooler(s) (i.e. black rectangular box).
YELLOW: Aftercooler(s) or heat exchanger(s) reduce/cool the temperature of hot air down to ~72F and routes air into 80% Dry Air Tower(s).
GREEN: The Air Dryer(s) desiccant cannisters (each contain 1 lbs of desiccant beads/activated alumina) dry the air to approx. 80% level and route the cool ~70F Dry Air into the main holding tank. Simultaneously the Air Dryer Regenerator recycles the air between filter and desiccant cannisters to dry out the desiccant beads/activated alumina).
PURPLE: The water vapor from the compressed air is then purged (condensed into liquid form and pushed into the water trap).
The 80% Dry Air is then routed thru the air compressors output port (1/4” push-to-connect or 3/8” pressure regulator port) and routed to final tooling/application.
